Congress Approves Homebuyer Tax Credit Closing Deadline Extension
Congress approved an
extension to the June 30 closing deadline for the home buyer tax
credit, hours before it was set to expire. The move will give
would-be buyers who signed a purchase agreement by April 30 more
time to close on those deals and receive the credit that is worth up
to $8,000. The new deadline is Sept. 30.

Great news! First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit Extended, Expanded!
The U.S. House of Representatives has just voted (403-12) to extend
and expand the homebuyer tax credit. It's now on its way to the
President for his signature!

final provisions by clicking
HERE.
The modifications in the column labeled "December 1 - April 30,
2010" become effective when President Obama signs the bill (he is
expected to sign by tomorrow). All changes made to the current
credit become effective on that date, as well.

Home sales once again top 500 in Sarasota market

Overall home sales in
the Sarasota real estate market exceeded 500 for the second time
since June 2008, inventory levels dropped, and the median sale price
for both single family and condominiums stabilized in May 2009.
These statistics all point toward a normalization and moderation of
the market following a more volatile period during the past two
years.

events. The 29th annual Jazz Festival (jazzclubsarasota.com)
kicks off today and runs until 7 March. There's a daily round of
open-air and indoor concerts from such as Dick Hyman at venues
such as the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and Holley Hall.
Sarasota rolls out
its red carpet for the 11th annual Sarasota Film Festival (sarasota
filmfestival.com) from 27 March to 5 April. There will be
more than 200 films from around the world and screenings every
day. Past celebrity attendees include Felicity Huffman, Charlize
Theron and Woody Harrelson.

Sales Associates Rated Five-Star in Client Satisfaction
FIVE STAR: Best In Client Satisfaction, a designation awarded by
independent research firm Crescendo Business Services, singled out
nearly one-quarter of Signature Sotheby's International Realty
agents in its yearly survey of Sarasota homebuyers and real estate
experts. Crescendo surveyed over 20,000 Sarasotans—residents as well
as mortgage and title company executives. Among those
selected, Gary & Carolyn Collins. Signature Sotheby's opened in 2008
with many associates from the former Sky Sotheby's and Premier
Properties.
Sotheby’s Brand Boosts Worldwide
Sotheby’s International Realty, which awarded the Signature
Sotheby’s franchise in Sarasota, increased its office count by 10.7
percent and its number of sales associates by 1,726 worldwide. At
the end of 2008, the company had 10,750 sales associates in 39
countries and territories.
